Gripping and handling means

Tongs

Tongs serve for gripping, lifting and subsequent handling, i.e. transporting of sheet coils that have their axis in vertical position. By their jaws they grip one or even two coils by annual ring of sheet coils, when gripping will induce the friction force between jaws and coil surface during lifting and this force will protect falling coil out of tong jaws.

Jaws clamping force is induced by passive acting of lever mechanism of tongs during lifting of tongs shackle. Tongs mechanism works automatically.

Tongs locking in their opened position and subsequently their unlocking for the purpose of coils annual ring gripping, is realized without intervention of operator and that only by acting of crane lifting mechanism.

Tongs in the top part of the mechanism are fitted with a shackle for suspension on a single hook.
